A Smartcard Fault - tolerant Authentication Server

چکیده
In this paper we present a fault-tolerant and intrusion-tolerant authentication server. This server is composed of several sites, each one managed by a different security administrator. We describe the registration and authentication protocols based on smartcards. Those protocols have been implemented by using Bull CP8 MP smartcards. We show how to make them secure in spite of possible failures on a minority of authentication sites. Then we describe a possible implementation based on public-key smartcards achieving the same properties of fault tolerance and intrusion tolerance.

Fault tolerant system with imperfect coverage, reboot and server vacation
This study is concerned with the performance modeling of a fault tolerant system consisting of operating units supported by a combination of warm and cold spares. The on-line as well as warm standby units are subject to failures and are send for the repair to a repair facility having single repairman which is prone to failure. If the failed unit is not detected, the system enters into an unsafe...
متن کاملEnhanced Smartcard based Multi-Server Authentication Scheme
Generally, if a user wants to use numerous different network services, he/she must register himself/herself to every service providing server. It is not easy task for users to remember these different identities and passwords for each server. To solve the problem, various multiserver authentication schemes have been proposed. Recently, Wang et al. proposed a smartcard based multi-server authent...

Abstract Using mobile agents, it is possible to bring the code close to the resources, which is not foreseen by the traditional client/server paradigm. Compared to the client/server computing paradigm, the greater flexibility of the mobile agent paradigm comes at additional costs as well as the additional complexity of developing and managing mobile agent-based applications. Such complexity ...
متن کاملA Secure Authenticated Key Exchange Protocol for Credential Services
Remote user authentication and key agreement system through smartcard is a viable practical solution to validate the eligibility of a remote user and thus to provide a secure communication. This paper suggests a Secure Authenticated Key Exchange Protocol (SAKEP) for Credential Services. The major intrinsic worth of this scheme include that, the system do not require any verification table and t...
متن کاملUsing a Smartphone to Access Personalized Web Services on a Workstation
This paper presents a privacy-friendly and portable mobile authentication solution. It addresses several shortcomings of conventional methods such as passwords and smartcard solutions. It also meets the needs of an increasingly mobile user. Trust in the client computer is minimal and the authentication is entirely delegated to the smartphone, which makes it portable across diverse workstations....
